Requested by MrTrainkfreak12 and dear god,was this a travesty to get through here with the internet screwing up and all. Giant Robo/Johnny Sokko and his Flying robot defined tokusatsu in the 70's after the success of Ultra Q,Godzilla,Kamen Rider and most notably,the first ever colored TV toku show: Space Giants!!! Ambassador Magma by Tezuka Osamu.
Giant Robo is made by the same guy who made Tetsujin-28 go/Gigantor,Mitsuteru Yokoyama as the traits of Tetsujin-28 is present and even a young boy as the best friend of giant robot. The toku eventually had so much following until decades later,it was presented us as an anime. Ahh,if only Kamen Rider and Sentai were given that red carpet treatment too but I digress.
Johnny Sokko and his flying Robot is now on DVD thanks to the likes of Shout! Factory and I hope they release more toku and anime like they did with the anime Transformers and they were badass.
A Masami Obari version of Giant Robo is not that impossible but Golion and Daizyujin,that's a different story. I simply looked at the sketches of Obari's RX-93 Nu Gundam and just modify Giant Robo's design to differ it from the anime/OVA versions of it to make it look more like the TV show.
